Top Tips for Dressing a Pyramid Body Shape

  1. Invest in a quality bra and get fitted professionally.
  2. Avoid high necked shirts and never wear baggy clothes with no shape or tailoring.
  3. T-shirts, loose or fitted are not friends of the Pyramid, nor are bulky sweaters and pleated pants.  All of these types of clothing will emphasise your mid-section, which is what we are trying to avoid.

A Pyramid Body Shape  Capsule Wardrobe Should Include:

Rouched or draped blouses because rouching helps to disguise any bulk in the mid-section.

Empire waist blouses or shirts  because the waistline cuts in just under the bust and then flares out gently to the hips, covering you midsection and emphasising your bust.

V-neck blouse with a side closure (invisible zipper down one side). Try to find one with a defined band at the empire waist-line that has a v-neck and lapels to draw the focus upwards.

A pleated skirt because the pleats should start below your tummy so the front of the skirt is flat across your midsection.

Flat-front slacks that are side or rear fastening, with a wide leg that skims the hips and thighs.

Flat front jeans. If possible try to find a pair with a side or rear fastening.

A cardigan with long sleeves finishing at the hip because it will be flattering worn over your structured blouses.

3/4 Length  Duster Coat in a dark colour and straight front.  It will create the illusion of length across your body to minimise your mid-section.

Shoes: Wedges are your friend!  Easy to walk in and they help balance out your proportions and suit your wide-leg trousers quite nicely.
